Hello, new to the board.
I recently got an 88 blaster 200 and im working out the problems
Can anyone tell me why the oil from the tranny is going thru the engine and smoking out the tailpipe.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks in advance.

the site glass lies
only way to tell for sure is to drain it and measure it.
it takes 650ml of oil so if you drain it into an empty bottle you will know for sure.
but if it is leaking, that is a hell of an airleak,it will fry your motoro_O
leak test it first/then replace seal or investigate....others will comment as well :)

Speedy is right, sounds like a clutch side crank seal. They really aren't that hard to replace if your mechanically inclined and have some time. My suggestion is do a leakdown test, and put the tranny breather tube in a cup of water, if it bubbles, that seal is bad. But you might find other leaks as well.

Change both crank seals if you do them. That way you know both are good. The stator side will require you use a flywheel puller. They are pretty cheap too, and not a bad thing to have laying around, the blaster size fits a few other bikes as well.

Welcome to the site too!

Thanks for the info speedyslyder and dirtysquared, looks like I have some work ahead of me.

only way other then it leaking past the seal would be that you over filled it and it is coming out of the breather tube and spilling on the exhaust it is pointed right towards it:)but that would smoke on header pipe not out silencer:)
dirtysquared method will tell you that good shirrrt right thur
make sure nothing is cracked either

Without draining and measuring I would say if you rode it, let it sit for a few hours, observed the level, rode it, let it sit same time in same spot as before, it should be a fairly accurate indicator. But yes a leak test would be good to do anyway
