Got another retarded questions,

Where I got my engine rebuilt the guy there gave me 2 stroke motorcycle transmission oil, that was 80weight. Sounds thick to me? could it hurt or should I just bring my ass to the Yamaha Dealer and buy the right 40weight or whatever it is.

i picked up oil from the yamaha dealer 2days ago...80 is what he recomended,i got it,changed it and road yesterday. no problems.

interesting, the manual says 10w-40 but you wouldn't want to put regular engine oil in there. lol

Tranny oil has a different weight than gear oil. Yes the gear oil in 80wt would be too thick.

i use 80w belray gear saver tranny oil and love it. i do not have to change it as often as 10-40 or auto tranny fluid for a ford atf type-f.

i use maxima mtl 80wt from the dealer and i have had no problem at all.been usin it for about a year now
