Torquing KOR Cylinder Head

Just torque them down to 18 foot pounds. Use a Chris cross paderon tightening the nuts and go in steps. Tighten each one down a little at a time till you hot 18 on all of them .

always criss cross. thats mechanic 101 man. and i have never heard of torquing then taking it apart and re torquing something tighter. where the hell did you hear that from ? remember cross threads are better then no threads LOL

The guy I bought it from, Whitty21. He said to set the wrench to 10 lbs of torque, tighten the head, take it off, then set the wrench at 18 and torque it down...
 
yeah that i have never herd you will always want to re check them after a couple heat cycles to be sure because i always have about 3 or 4 that turn a little tighter. i am curious as to why you say 18lbs when the manual says 20?
 
Ft lbs or Newton meters? I can't remember if the manual has both. But my torque wrench only uses Nm and I have to convert ft lbs. just throwing that out there to make things clear.
 
I think he got it mixed up slightly. You should torque em all down, to 18ft/lbs (in a hand drawn star pattern). Then retorque them all down to 20ft/lbs after you have finished the 18ft./lbs.. Run a few heat cycles(2-3) then check and make sure they are all still tight to 20ft/lbs. Go ride, and once your back home, just check to make sure nothing has moved and your good to go.
 
tighten in a star pattern then when they are tight to the torque required. start at the top and check all bolts from right to left. after a ride recheck all ur bolts.
