Torque spec

i did the recommended torque specs on my newly rebuilt and ported motor, and the head gasket leaked on the second ride, could have been the increased compresssion, but have since just did the star pattern and evenly cranked them moderately tight, way more than the specs of 20 some ft lbs.,
havent had a problem since

ok the base gasket... lower bottom is 18ft lbs... but no one does it they jsut tighten in... the head is 20 ft lbs the gasket on top is copper so its a good idea to torque em down

use a star patern on the head and make sure you oil the bolts befor you start. they should be around 18-20 ft-lds. but start at a low tourque and work your way up

yeah dont tighten one don to spec and then do another. finger tight them all, then go around in a criss-cross pattern doing about 5 lb,ft incrments till there all the same
