i just got my top end rebuilt and the bolt right behind the spark plug that is attached to the cylinder doesnt screw in all the way and slide out. should i ride like this? will it hurt my engine
You need ALL the cylinder head studs!, you need to get a "HeliCoil" insert installed, if you run it with out all the studs the head will warp when it gets hot and you'll blow the blow the head gasket.
It's a thread repair insert, the kit comes with a special tap and the inserts, you need to provide the drill bit.
You drill out the stripped hole, tap it with the special tap, screw in the insert with the tool provided and the hole is BETTER than new, put the stud back in and reassemble.
The kit is about $40?, most machine shops will install one for you if you aren't comfortable doing it yourself, you MUST! drill the hole out SQUARE!!!! to the deck or you'll never get the head back over the studs!
