top end Wiseco piston what size help please

hi nead help once again got my cylender bored to 68.00mm and i am looking for a piston seen this one on amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000GVD4YM/?tag=jyj356j5-20 im i correct in saying that wiseco add the clearance for the piston to bore into the size stamped on the piston if some one could clarify this for me dont want to buy rong piston thanks
ya that should work i buy my pistons first and give it to my machinist so after he does the bore he can check the clearance on the cylinder wall, but ya if it was bored to 68 then that piston should work

The piston should always be in the hand of the machinist that does the boring, forged pistons have different tolerances.

^^^^^ right. I wouldn't trust someone who would do a bore without knowing which piston is going in it. You should ask him which piston it is bored for

I’ve done several spread sheets on Wiseco pistons and found that the same part number can vary in size up to .0007 in diameter. I’ll bore a cylinder without a piston in hand but only to find where the cylinder will clean up. For example, if I have a stock cylinder with deep gouges in it, I’ll set it up in the boring bar and bore to the next available size - .003” and see if it cleaned up. If it needs more material removed to clean up, I’ll keep repeating the process until the bore is clean. Once I receive the piston, I’ll measure it and add the required clearance to it. Wiseco recommends .002” for a Blaster. Once I I know what my final measure needs to be, I’ll remove the last amount of material with the cylinder hone. This usually ends up being .0025” - .004”. If your machinist bored the cylinder 68mm and you order a 68mm piston after the fact, the piston skirt to cylinder wall clearance needs to be measured and can be no less than .002”. Knowing that pistons can vary in size by .0007”, you could end up with a tight bore if the cylinder was finalized without the piston in hand.

thanks for info ken the comp doing the bore didnt want to do bore without piston but i explained that the piston is coming from usa and he agreed when i get the piston to bring it in and he will measure piston and hone if neaded thanks for all the info
