Top end rebuild vs New top end kit

I am debating whether to have Ken O'Connor Racing bore my cylinder and send me a new piston, rings, and gaskets, or to just buy the complete new top end kit off of eBay. To have Ken do bore the cylinder, parts, and return shipping would cost about $260 + shipping on my end. The kit on eBay runs about $270 including shipping. You wont be disappointed with Ken's work. That topend on fleabay, is it an OEM Yamaha cylinder? I don't think so. You are better off sticking with your OE cylinder.....scrape up a little extra $$$ and have Ken port it while it's there! Don't forget to have your head modded too!!! I:I

What sort of modification should I have done to the head? Just have it machined? Is it worth the extra $60 as far as performance?

The head mod and porting will really wake up your blaster, and an aftermarket pipe and you are set. I have mine in for that work and more at KOR.

I ended up sending the motor off to Ken O'Connor to get a top end rebuild, and have the head modded. Can't wait to get it back. Thank you for the great advice.
