Should I drain the fluids in the crankshaft to make sure there are no metal bits?? If so how do I go about doing that?

There shouldn't be fluids in the crankshaft! I think you mean the gearbox, trannsmission, clutch case.

Take a good bright flashlight and look down in the crankcase. look for pieces of metal. Inspect the crank for up and down play(you don't want any), and no more that 3mm side to side play.

If you find stuff wrong, rebuild that crank if its a OEM yamaha one, buy new main bearings and seals, and freshen up that bottom end. then you have a good fresh Motor that you will be able to enjoy for quite awhile.

That piston looks like it has suffered one of three things.

Lubrication loss.

Dirt ingested through the carb.

Not enough warm up time.

if you want to get ghetto find a magnet that will fit and or tape a straw to vacum and suck...
un offficial way resume at your own risko_O

So I shined a flashlight into the bottom end through the bottom part of the cylinder and could see oil in the bottom of the case....is that bad?

the onlything in the crank is 2 stroke oil and gas it is ok...
if it was a 4 stroke then it would be gear oil
the transmission is seperated from the crank cylinder, piston ect
not sure what piston that is but it looks like a wiseco which you need to let it warm up longer.although it dont matter know it is toast:)

Yeah I think the issue was just that the previous owner (and me also, I only drove it twice) didn't warm up the machine before running it...I've never owned a two stroke?? What's the best way to break it in after the rebuild and from there how long do I let it warm up??? So like a month from now should I let it warm up before riding for like 10 minutes???

It is fine to see oil in the bottom of the crankcase!

You are going to have to split the cases to remove the debris, as I do not think you are going to find a magnet that attracts aluminium, or a straw that will fit into a bearing.

Warm up should be as long as it takes the engine to get to operating temperature, occasionally blipping the throttle.

After rebuild, leak test, 3-5 heat cycles, 2 tanks of fuel at no more than 3/4 throttle!

Alright thanks :) like I've said I've never owned a two stroke so I didn't realize how much warm up time and stuff there is

Oh another random question...how long would 1 tank of gas last me roughly?? I do mostly ditch riding

Will I have to do any Carb work on the blaster now that it has been bored out?? Or can I just attach the carb back the way it already is.

Haha alright thanks for all the help and for putting up with all my newbie questions XD I really appreciate the help on my first rebuild!
