hello all

im having a dilemma with myself whether to keep the oil injection or not? little background bought a 02 blaster yesterday that had been sitting for the last few years the guy said the carbs needed cleaned but i figured it would need a top end done rings at least? so i went and had my machinist measure the cylinder and it was on its stock bore 66mm so it ended up needing to go up 1 size to 66.25 so now im sitting here thinking i just took the time to clean up the oil tank and painted and cleaned the tank guard plus it would be so convenient not to have to mix my gas, Should i just keep the injection??? they cant be as bad as everyone thinks if it lasted on this one and how many that are still out there.

would like to hear any and all opinions i know there will be a few

thanks
joe

If you are going to stay pretty much stock, I'd keep it. If you're going to mod it a lot then I'd ditch it. At the least I'd get a new gear for peace of mind. Be sure to follow the process for priming the pump if you've had it apart.

my friend has a 92 blaster and it still hasnt failed... i think if you mod it alot, and raise the engine speed with porting, carbs, pipes etc the nylon gear gives up and breaks and doesnt spin the pump any more.. if your stickin to stock, Id keep it myself, but thats just me.. simply because mixing gas, and not being able to ride to the local pump sucks...

to bleed the pump, put the tank on, fill with oil having connected all the hoses, try n fill the small hose leading to the carb with a bit of oil, and then with the engine NOT running, open the large phillips head screw on the side of the pump body. keep this open untill no more bubbles flow out. close the screw, and start the engine and keep it idling/ gently revving for about 5 minutes or untill your sure the pump is working. no smoke means no oil, so keep an eye on that exhaust

ENJOY!
