timing help please

Just curious.....................
Are you going after a problem or just looking for a power increase?

buying a atv and teh guy says the timing is off but i havent looking into it myself its only 250 for the whole 98 blaster but thank you and ill get it up here soon when i gopick it up

"timing is off" sounds like some kinda excuse that the top end is shot, unless the woodruff key broke the timing cant be off, and if he pulled it apart to see the key broke he shoulda replaced it, they're only a couple bucks at the hardware store,
another good lie is the carb needs adjusted, so this sounds a little fishy to me, just be sure the rest of the bike is in good shape..tire's, plastics, bearings ect, ect, or your just buying a roller that needs tons of parts and work, may not be worth the $250 if everything needs replacing, just my 2 cents

I agree with AWK. Sounds a little fishy, if it did have an adj. timing plate it is very simple to adjust so why wouldn't they. Definitely look much more into the machine. Ask them how they know the timing is off also...

and best bet would be to take a compression tester with you to see what that reads, look for 100psi + minimum, but even if the motor needs done, if the rest of the bike is ok, it could still be worth it, just dont let anyone bullshit ya

just see if you can take the stator cover off (left hand side cover) there is only like 5 screw its a philips, an honest seller will let you do that...
