I have been watching my front sprocket slowly curve out the grooves over the last month and today it finally slipped. Luckily i won a chain thanks to slick's contest, now i just gotta get the sprockets. I was tryin to take the axle apart today and it wouldn't budge, 1st is it a counter clockwise thread, if not, any tips to loosen it up? Also what do you guys use for wrenches, Pipe wrenches or chanell locks or big ass wrenches?

I dont think you have to take those off for a sprocket- it should fit right over your hub. May the blaster force be with you if you take your axle nutz off. PB blaster and a big pipe-wrench, I guess... I hope someone knows a better way. BTW, axle nuts are NOT reverse threaded.

you don't need to take the whole axle off to get the sprocket off, just take off the 4 bolts holding the sprocket itself on, then slide it off, if it fits over ur wheel hub. if it don't fit over the wheel hub,, then take the wheel hub off, if anything is stuck, pb blaster is ur best friend, just don't soak it with pb, then try and heat it, pb is flamable, hope this helps

I use pipe wrenches. It is standard thread so righty tighty lefty loosy still plays in. I would soak it in PB blaster for a day or two and see if that help loosen it up. If not, and you have access to a torch put the heat to it. Also for getting the rear sproket off you do not have to take the axel apart, just take the left side wheel off and take the sprocket lose from the hub and put the new one on.

This is what my rear looked like when I switched mine out.

if you would have flipped it over you could have got another season out of that oneI:I

I use an air chisel with a flat tip to break the nuts loose works great
