Ok guys this is my first post, just signed up but been reading a lot on here.
My issue is when ever I rev it hangs and pop pop pop pop until I pull the choke a little to choke it back down I've tried every carb circuit one at a time and I know its lean but I can't figure out why..checked everywhere for air leaks with wd40 and can't find anything. Also this is a fresh rebuild and unplugged the tors because it wouldn't idle unless my thumb was on the throttle. It's a 2000 and any help would be appreciated because I'm leaving early in the am for my first trip to little sahara

Read up on leak test. Need to pressurize and hold pressure for 5- 10 mins. You definitely have a lean condition

Could be seal leaking that would be hard to find without a keak tester. Check also the spark plug is torqued corectly.. You def need a leak tester. You can build one or buy one.

If adjusting the idle by the following method does not cure the hang, you must find the air leak and fix it before you ride it, otherwise it may be your last ride on this top end.

Idle speed adjustment.

Set float level, make sure that all jets are clean and fuel flows freely from the float bowl drain when the screw is cracked open.

Start with air screw 1.5 turns out.

Set idle screw so that it has some sort of idle. With TORS it is the big screw under seat on top of unit. With no TORS is is the brass screw midway down carb body.

Warm up motor and then set idle screw for a faster idle, 2000rpm+

Adjust air screw either way to get the fastest idle.

Adjust air screw a little at a time leaving 10 secs or until the motor responds.

Re adjust idle screw for desired idle .

It may pay to look closely at the reed block and carby boot, seal them up with High temp copper RTV, as leaks are very common there.

Do not over tighten the bolts as it can warp the cage and cause an air leak.
5.8ft lb is enough, diagonally and incrementally, ( a little bit on each at a time).

I notice that this is a fresh re build, did you heat cycle and re tension the head and cylinder nuts.

Is the cylinder base gasket a Blue/green paper one, they have been known to leak?
