my new carb jet came in today so i installed it then fired up the blaster and let it run for abit, then it made this really bad metal on metal noise.so i stoped the motor and sure enuff.it sounded like the rod bearings went.i tore the head off and the piston and cylinder walls looked as they should look like.so i was about to take the jug off and decided to turn the crank over by hand.as i took the stator cover off the fly wheel was about to fall off.had to put everything back together and tighten up the flywheel then fired it back up and it purred like a pussy cat.friggin stress level was @ 100% but after i found the problem and corrected it it droped back to 0%.lol
the funny thing was bought gas and i mixed the gas exactly 32:1 so when the noise started i thought for sure it was too lean and fryed the motor.
its those lil things that will get ya if you dont pay close attention lol

and make sure you do a leakdown test to make sure the head sealed good. or you will fry the motor haha

i forgot to tighten it when i put everything back together lol

Did you advance the timing or just rebuild it?

Yea, if the flywheel is loose, you will know ASAP because it will rattle like all holy hell and shake everything. Did you check the woodruff key? I cracked mine with the flywheel being loose and it bent the key.

i had a similar experience. after i rebuilt my top end, i mixed my gas and went riding. heard a lour screech metal on metal sound and i shut it off and pulled it over. turns out i need new brake pads.
