symptoms of bad TORS?

okay, im trying to help a buddy diagnose a problem on his blaster. im on a mobile phone so i cant explain what its doing in great detail. what would be some symptoms of a bad TORS?

sh*tty throttle response, bogging very baddly

it is bogging bad. it will not rev up at all. cut the fuel off and it revs right up as the bowl empties. dunno wish i was on a pc so i could explain it better.

Could be TORS or an airleak

i'd say it sounds much more like its running really rich if it gets better as the bowl empties. clean out the carb and check the reeds

he said he cleaned the carb and jets. i looked at the reeds and they looked wet, but seemed to be working okay. where would the air leak in? this 2stroke stuff is greek to me, but im trying to learn.

an airleak could be anywhere theres a gasket on the motor check the head gasket and at the base of the cylinder, but most likely it would be a TORS issue if the TORS is still on the quad

okay, guys i think my buddy found the problem on his blaster. apparently the reed cage has a couple of bolts holding it in, i had no idea since im not familiar with it, but anyway they were backed out for some reason. they were only in there by a thread or 2. he tightened them back and says he got it running, but now the carb needs to be tuned again. i'll help him with that this afternoon. also, we'll be deleting the TORS as well.


im pretty sure the bolts backing out is not normal. any way to keep this from happening again or why they would in the first place?

Use blue locktite on them and torque them to spec. Which is 8 Nm or 5.8 ft lbs.

It could of happened due to not being tighted to spec.....

I would also check to see if the gasket is still good.
