Hello all! Another first time atv rookie to annoy all you guys! lol Bought a 96 Blaster last summer from a friend of a friend for $500. Did'nt know anything then (don't know much more now haha) but my buddy said it was a great deal. His friend had put over $2000 in the quad I:I. I had to replace the stator (Ricky Stator) and rode it about 2 days before the Dg exhaust and pipe popped off. Replacing that with a Fmf fatty and Powercore 2 silencer and replaced the rear brakes which were shot. Now how do i tell what else my quad has had done to it so i can tell you guys and know what to do next? All i know is that its bored .40 over and has a Mikuni carb (not sure how big) with a stage 2 or 3 jet kit? Itp Holeshot on the back not sure about front. I know that in the 2 days i rode it the thing was ridiculous quick (last thing i rode was a 2001 Kdx) and i figured out how to powerslide better then Blaster 195 (no offense man haha). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and I hope to be a contributing member soon and not the Rookie haha. Sorry no pics yet camera's not working with pc right but will update soon as i get straight.
 
Thanks foolish and blasterfreek. yea i figured i couldnt go wrong for 500 even if it needed a little work plus with all the aftermarket stuff i figured i had a new project to work on. and by new project to work on i mean ordering all the parts and having someone else put them on lol. love both your quads foolish the green is sweet and blasterfreek the bla bla bla part is hilarious. Some of these posts i give up reading what theyve got on the quad and just assume its faster then mine haha
 
welcome!! just read the DIY section for most of the stuff like removing the tors, and make sure to buy an oil injection block off kit ASAP! and then you get to learn about premixing!!!
 
Not sure if the TORS has been removed cant see why he would have left it on and the oil blockoff had already been done so i know all about premixing haha. I maybe a newb but ill premix forever bcuz 2 strokes are the sh*t!!!! was told to do a 32:1 when i mix although i am kinda curious whats the best gas to run with and whats the best oil to use? using the yamaha brand now just curious if its any good or if theres something better. Thanks again guys for the welcome I'm amazed that i signed up yesterday and there's already been 8 responses thats nice. My fantasy football league that has 12 guys has posts made that only 2 or 3 respond to. Nice to see if there is a problem i have a network to turn to haha
 
if ur using yamalube, that works great, and only use a higher octane fuel if u mod the bike and it calls for a higher octane, like milling the head down, using to high of a octane gas willl only hurt performance
 
Yamalube is what ive been using and again not sure whats been done to the motor but im assuming over 2gs in the motor would make it modded somewhat? whats the best gas to run until i figure that out just to be on the safe side? Premium or race fuel? Dont want to mess it up haha
 
cool thanks again man. so just out of curiousity i have a 4stroke 125cc (one of the chinese ones) for my 5 year old should i run premium in that or just ol 87? and thanks for the flotek link what'd the work they do for you run? pretty sure i want them to do mine when the time comes
 
the 125, id say whatever runs best with it, and denny at flotek did my port job for a simple 150, that matched with my 3mm stroker crank, and i can lift er up in any gear, its amazingly fast now
 
yea so far i have just ran 87 in it (3 tanks since i bought it) wasnt sure what would be too much for it? and 150 for them to do the work isnt bad at all. when my time comes i think ill be going with them unless someone knows of someone better haha
 
you can do port and polish and have a 240 kit on there. Thats what i am going to do plus about 100 ohter little mods that you can do do your bike. Anyways, welcome and hope to see you stay around.
 
thanks man i appreciate the welcome and the help. think ill do the 240 kit and the port and polish as well. any idea what kind of hp increase that would be overall from say a stock motor to that?
