STUCK IN REVERSE

yeah but why would that make it go backwards? the flywheel is still spinning forward with the engine right?

your timing is out this happened to me before. take your magneto off and check the key. it may have wedged itself out 180degrees or so.

THANKS .I'LL CHECK THAT OUT.IF THE TIMMING WERE OUT WOULD THIS CAUSE THE ENGINE TO RUN BACKWARDS?

i noticed somthing today when i took off the cover on the side of the engine and i watched to see witch direction the motor was spinning .i kicked down the kicker and it would spin the way the arrow was pointing on that round metal peace.(i think that may be the magneto on somthing) but the other thing a noticed is after i got it started it would switch the other direction and spin torwards me.clockwise i beleive if you were sitting on the bike looking on the left side.this makes me think this motor is running the wrong direction.what do you think about that?

just check it out because it has happened 2 me b4. they are both supposed to spin together.

Your motor is spinning the wrong way for sure.
Hope you have luck correcting the problemI:I

well if it starts the right way then switches direction the key is probally sheared and releasing the flywheel backwards on the shaft !?!? and the shaft may have a burr on it catching the flywheel backwards and turning the motor backwards !?!?

I appreciate everybody's input so much.I'll be taking it apart wednesday and let you all know what i find.thanks again everyone.

well i took off the magneto,or some call it the flywheel and sure enough the woodruff key was sheared off completely.I ordered a new one just waiting for it to come in.i think this is my main problem ,I can't wait till it comes in.i want to see my blaster go forward for the first time since I've had it.I'm pretty sure Quadboy22 hit it on the nose.hopfully by Saturday I'll know more.I had to take it to a local motorcyle shop to get the darn thing off.found out I needed a puller.I could of ordered one but didn't want to wait for it to come in.they charged me 20.00 bucks.they said they have never seen or heard of one actually running in reverse.they were curious too to see what caused this.as soon as i get the key I'll slap it in and up date you all.I:I

i figured that was all that happened. when you put it together make sure use an impact gun to tighten down the magneto so you don't shear your key again.

im gonna help stress the importance of getting that magneto nut back on tight. i went through 2 $20 vito's timing keys because it wasnt tight enough. once you get it seated, dont test fire the motor either while the nut is still loose. you WILL sheer off the key again. i finally took it to the dealership and had them tighten it for me the 3rd time. the dealership has a tool that holds the flywheel in place so that it wont turn when torque is applied to the nut. since yo uhave it apart, you should order yourself the timing advance key from Vito's and put it in since you're replacing the key anyways. It advances your timing by 4 degrees and gives you a little more low end grunt. its a noticable diffrence in performance gains.

key is in and it started up on the 2nd try.torked it down with an air drill.just had to ajust idle and thats it.seems to be running well.i couldn't of done this without the help of some of you.thanks again for all of your help.i still have a few more things i need to do ,so i might need a few pointers from some of you all later.i'm going to disconect the oil injection next and change the trany fluids.then i think it should be safe to take her out and really let her rip

i had all ready installed the stock woodruff key.tighted it down with an air gun.seems to be ok.Thanks for the idea though.i may try that in the future .i'm just learning to ride and havn't got to the point that i need more power yet.i know i'm going to want it later though.

Hi

Am new to this forum and just bought a used 2006 blaster, has been jetted and has an after market exhaust on it and runs really well.

But The engine is very loud and tinny almost like it is a piston issue but runs perfect.

Is this normal for this engine to be that loud..?

2 strokes make all kinds of noises and rattles!!! but bad sounds are usually pretty distinctive!!! but yes, you may have a lil piston slap or a loose exhaust bolt or somthing making it a little noiseier than normal!!!
