stock reed cage

I have heard of porting the boyseen rad valve. Never heard of porting a stock cage. Not much material to remove on the stock cage. The rad valve can be ported becasue there is a lot of material inside and it is made to increase low end throttle. It does this by using a smaller area for air to flow. Opening it up with a dremel greatly improves air flow.

As for increase it's probably not much, but when you only start with 17 horses you need all the help you can get. Pretty sure I saw it here somewhere, maybe DIY section. If you look at the sides on the triangle there is a lip that sticks out about 1/16 in, the center rib can be narrowed , the tip can be smoothed , I also beveled the edge at the base of the reeds so there wasn't a square edge. Because I also ported cyl at the same time I can't say the amount of improvement. The smoother the surface the smoother the air will flow. I'm not talking polished smooth, just no bumps, sudden changes in area, or direction.

i say just buy some vforce 3s. i cant see enough material being able to come off the stock cage safely, with a noticable difference in power. thats just me though. let us kknow if you do do any mods, and how well it works! i also have only the stock cage

People port the plastic intake for the VF3's beacuse it funnels into a small hole where there is a lot of extra material....It is two peices the actual reed cage, then a peice that goes into the reed cage to funnel air/fuel mixture that has a circle shaped hole. This hole can be proted larger as there is tons of extra material, I think this is what you are referring to when talking about porting reed cage.

Edit: wow should have read the whole post...lol, larry's shee posted something new i've never seen. Anyway, all I have heard here refered to opening intake hole on VF3's.
