Ok so i tried to ohm my stator and when i ohm out the red/black and black i get no reading, it just says OL. If i kick it over with the meter on i get 3000-4000. When i ohm out the white/rd and black i get about 18. Anyone have any ideas about these readings? Does this mean my stator is bad? It starts up first kick and runs but doesnt run right at all. When i give it gas it wants to bog down and when sitting wont idle.

The red/black to black should read between 192-288. I would pull your flywheel and check for a broken wire on your stator. The pickups can be replaced individually fairly cheap. Just requires some sodering.

If you know what ohms are, there should be absolutely no current going through them when testing....

Ohms are resistance. so basically how hard it is for a current to travel through them

You may have a fuel problem here, I would be leak testing first to see if the engine is air tight.

It starts and runs, but wants to bog when you give it gas, does not sound like a stator problem to me.

I would be suspecting a discrepancy with the fuel system.

I agree......... a bog is a lack of fuel..... a mis- fire is a lack of voltage.

If the resistance is Zero coil is shorted ,if ol or Infinite means open circuit , broken wire.
The small coil is the pick-up coil , the large light colored coil is the lights and the one you need to test is the large darker coil which is the charge coil .

Stator faulty, replace. (If you measured correctly)
A weak spark could be strong enough for idle and light loads, but miss on heavier loads/wot.
If performance is still not back to normal after replacing stator coil, do a leaktest.
A leaktest is always advisable though...

Stator coils are funny things, engine might run 100% now and just not start 10min later... They are a common problem on the GY6 engines.

In general never swing engine over without sparkplug connected and grouning somewhere. And also watch for severely flooded plugs(espeially on multicylinder engines)
