Stator Bolts

The key is to drill STRAIGHT AND CENTERED. And make sure you use the exact size bit that is recommended. Too big or too small and you are waisting your time.

Yeah I remember those from the pre-historic era....lol Bought a battery powered impact and never looked back. Work a 100 times better.

you guys are talking about 2 different things. there is no electric alternative to an impact driver. you are thinking of the electric version of an air impact. not an impact driver

but the point of an impact driver is that you have a huge force going into the screw head while it turns so it doesnt strip. how in the world do they replicate this with electric

the extracor kit i got from sears has the drill on one side and the extractor on the other of the same bit, $20 if i remember right
3 different sizes gives you 3 tries to get it

and no, i'm not sure about having enuf to grab after drilling the head off

well i do love a reason to go to Sears, Ill see what i can pick up local as Sears is all the way on the other side of town, thanks for your help guys.

I was thinkin the same thing, I mean i could put a bit in the drill but wouldnt it just round out the center?

How does the electric one work better?

Yeah it is totally different than a drill. It does not only turn it also impacts the screw. I guarantee there is not a screw that you can get loose with a manual one that these will not get out without breaking a sweat.

Mine is a Ridgid. All of the drill manufacturers make them now. Run around 130 or so. Check the out when you go to pick up the extractors. If they have one with a battery in it you should see how it works.

Will do, i would like to have one on hand. I like my manual one and its was like $10, but like you said if you use it everyday im sure its worth it.

Well I picked up some small vice grips today to try and get this bolt out. I didnt cut off the bolt head because I was worried about it being too short to get out. I worked for about 30 minutes and could not get the damn thing out but the wife came out to the garage and wanted to try and I'll be damned, 2 minutes and she had the bolt loose. She will be spending a little MORE time in the garage from now on! I like to think I got it loose for her! Thanks for the help and ideas guys but next time I may just consult her next time round, ha.
