my kick start lever is not bouncing back up. and i have the new spring for it. can u just unbolt that nut and take it off. or do you have to take the whole cover off to replace that. thanks ahead of time for your help

You have to take the cover off.

do you have to change the gasket, cause a guy that i work with said you would probably have to do that

You don't have to if it's not all tore up, but it's always best to change it just so you know it's new and sealing properly.

yea the oil is going to run out when you take the cover off, I had a 91 that did it and the white bushing the gear moves on was wore, so check that good.

Yeah, you gotta drain the oil.

Then refill with 650ml of oil designed for wet clutches.

I use bel ray gear saver, I know a lot of other people on the forum use it as well. It's never given me any problems, but it's kinda pricey. Like $8 for a at.
