i need a new back sprocket.. should i just change the back sprocket or get a whole new kit with the chain, front sprocket and back?

I would just get a kit honestly. I'm running 14/40 on the blaster which is what most people run. What are the full kits running in price

What do u mean can u count the teeth. If ur talking about before u buy it on the net yeah u can but it's difficult. I get most of my stuff from rock mountain that watt I know what I'm getting. If ur talking on ur bike yeah u can count them if u have problems with the front just remove the cover. On the back it should have a number imprinted on it

alright but cant i just buy a whole new back sprocket.. whats the difference if u get a kit compared to just a back..

No difference and yes u can just get the back sprocket. I got the kit for 14/40 when I changed mine. I run 20 x 11-8 on the back and 21 x 7-11 on the front

The question is do you need a chain? Front sprockets take a while to wear out so yours is probably ok. Those kits with all three are pretty good deals though.

If you think you need a chain then replace all three. Then you have to decide if you want to go with stock ratio (13/40) or not.

It is actually almost exactly stock ratio with 14/42. I put on the 42 last year for a little more acceleration for MX. This year I upped the motor and figured it wouldn't need the low gear, especially with 18" tires. But the 42 is a sweet Renthal alloy unit and cost about $60, so I put on the 14 to balance it out. The 14 only cost $12. ;-D

alright and i want 14/40 or should i get ur 14/42... sounds sweet.. cuz all i would need is a 42 back sprocket right... and how do i check if my chain is good.. and ya my front is ok

Honestly, 14/42 is not worth spending money on. The overall ratio is about the same (3.08 stock vs 3.00 for 14/42) Most people do the 14/40 (2.86) to gain speed on the top end (cuz they wanna go FAST). I went the other way originally with 13/42 (3.23) to gain a bit on the holeshot for MX racing.

alright ill just get a new back sprocket then... its 40 im pretty sure.. but i broke my arm so i cant ride for about 3 weeks anyways.. or i can but i dont want to f*ck it up anymore than it already is
