splitting cases

ya don't.. or sometimes a modified harmonic balancer will work. also need a flywheel puller if you don't have one of those. if you are replacing the crank you will need a crank puller/installer tool too

how do i split the cases without that case splitter tool?

You need at the very least a flywheel puller. Usually if needed you can split them with a soft rubber mallet and a bunch of light well placed taps not swings light taps. ;) Some people will tell you this is the wrong way to do it, and it is. But wen i was starting out in my garage thats how i did it and i never damaged a case never had any problems from it at all.

P.s. i agree with children using guns under close adult supervision I:I

haha thanks. i thought i might get someone over here crying about my name. the guys from banshee hq told me about it. i do have a puller i have everything tore down and when i got to the shift star i found it was welded. now i have rebuild my banshee bottom to top but i have a feeling the star shouldnt be welded. http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd218/ronscott54/IMG_20120828_144254.jpg

i dont think the name is a big deal its just a name...banshee hq doesent like us blaster people but who cares

Yea it shouldnt be welded should have a star head screw holding it on

yamaha changed the shift star design after having problems with the star coming loose. the later year model blasters are welded.

You just have to turn it where it doesn't catch the cases as you split them

the star does not wanna turn by hand. is it ok to tap on it a bit to get it to spin or is there something wrong if you cant get it to move with your fingers?

turn the drive sprocket or shaft(if you took the sprocket off already) as you try to turn it. that will make it ez to shift the gears
