Splitting cases, extra part!!

I am in the middle of splitting my cases to replace all seals and gaskets and maybe lap the cases cause they were leaking at the seam. I just started takeing the clutch apart when I noticed a small round spring about 1/2in in diamater laying under my motor that came off of something. Does anyone know what I am talking about and where it might have went. I think it came out of the right side somewhere but not sure. I have looked at parts diagrams and haven't found it. I have the clymer book and am takeing my time labeling every nut and bolt as I go till I found this spring. Tried loading a picture but cant get it to work. I can email someone a pic if I need to of it. Please help!! Extra parts aren't good!!

That's the spring tensioner on one of the rubber seals.

It goes behind the rubber lip on an oil seal. Perhaps the kick starter seal...

look at your seals, whichever one that came off of should be replaced

agreed with the above asessments, you wont be needing that if your gonna replace all the seals anyway, and if your gettin aftermarket seals they wont have them in i dont believe, only factory seals have them ??????

the aftermarket seals i got had them also. not sure what kind they wer though
