sorry another jetting question! since +3 crank

That looks awful light. I like to see a little darker ring around the base of the plug unless what looks like a little shadow to me is actually dark ring coloration. Can you take a pic of it in some better light?

if i go up to a 170 it bogs down as the powerband comes in. its my crap iphone 3gs with no flash ill try to take another pic in some natural light tomorrow but overall it flys now compared to before

Well lean is powerful... but for a shorter period of time. I run on the safe side to make sure I don't have a premature engine failure.

Take a better pic and then post it.

here is a closer pic of the plug chop this is with a 165 main and i downjetted to a 60 idle so it idles better.

i have tried jetting to a 170 again but it bogs out midrange so i put a 168 in and it runs perfect. tried a plugchop but must not have held the throttle on for long enough as it didnt tan as good as the other!

Ok thanks for your help Scott. I'll give it a good run next week gonna switch to a b9es too from the b8es as I saw one of your old posts where it seemed to run a bit darker on the plug

looks like you were on your way to gettin some good color on that plug. probably didn't run long enough. you could try a chop with your current setup with a b9. that might make a difference.

2 things, i've rarely got color from one run, and you do know you have to start at the bottom and work your way up thru the jetting ranges
adjusting the float effects all other ranges, so if you dont do it first you just wasted your time, and jets
adjusting the pilot effects the needle and main jets
and so on and so on ????

why does everyone wanna just jet the main and hope the others are ok ???

1. whats the float height ???

2. wheres the airscrew setting that it idles the highest ????
under 1 turns out requires a bigger pilot, over 2 turns requires a smaller pilot
sounds like you determined the pilot by the first one it would idle at ????

3. then i'd plug chop the needle by doing slightly over half throttle 6th gear runs

then, and only then would i consider doing main jetting with wot plug chops

and b8es plugs are the only plug required for most mods, imo

Float height is at 16mm set to spec. The air screw is 1.5 turns out at the min. I dropped the pilot as I hade a 60 spare as when I just did a steady run and removed the plug it was wet

turn the airscrew a 1/4 turn at a time, in then out, till it idles the highest,
that and only that setting will tell you if it's too rich or lean
under 1 turn = richer pilot, over 2 turns = leaner pilot
when it idles the highest between say 1 - 2 1/2 turns.......... your golden
no plug reading needed, the screw setting will tell the tale

then move on to the needle and mains, doing plug chops to both

Ok thanks awk. Would you recommend doing 2 wot runs then before chopping the plug?
As regards the brakes I'll be getting in touch but think I'm looking at a right bend pipe 1st thanks again Craig. Should hopefully get this thing jetted next week I've just ordered a pilot jet kit as I only have a 60 and 68

the problem with doing more than one wot run for the main is you have to go thru the other ranges to get there, and if they're not spot on they will taint the reading for wot ???
i just stated i never had much color with 1 run ?????
