So I recently cracked my piston in my 03 Yamaha blaster. I took it apart and installed a new wiseco rod, crank, and piston. I put it back together and tried to crank it up. It has perfect compression and is turning over fine. It's just that it will start and run for a mere two seconds and then die. When it dies a really rich smoke comes from the engine. It smells like something is burning. Can someone please help.

Did you leakdown test the motor? What does this smoke smell like?
What does the plug look like? Is/was it new?
Was carb cleaned and float level set?
Fresh gas?
How much assembly oil did you use ?
When it starts and dies, how easy is it to restart?
How many times have you done this?

Plug was new, carb was cleaned and float level was set. Fresh gas.it takes about 5 kicks for it to start again.
