ok so i got new razrs for the back and now my clutch slips a good bit when i shift. even if i dont use the clutch to shift it still slips. can i adjust this somehow or does this mean that i need new clutch plates?

oh and it dosent slip unless im going full throttle. i just want it to grab sooner. it slips for like a second or 2 until it stops completly.

well it did it a little bit with the crappy tires on but they were pretty much slicks so it had no problem just grabbing and letting the wheels spin because im only like 125lbs so she likes to spin but now it wants the tires to hook up. ill have to tinker with it a little bit. how much play should there be?

ill see what i have to work with. its back home and i wont be able to ride for over a month. ill see what happens. thanks! any other advice would be great too!

you should have around a 1/8" of play in the lever so that the clutch is fully engaged.
you can also mess with the adjustment by the clutch arm.
maybe you need to change the tranny fluid too.

try throwing some yamalube trans+ in the case, that stuff is STICKY

and check the play at the lever, and make sure that when you release the lever, that the arm on the case returns to rest, and doesn't get caught up part way through the swing

yeah ill try to mess with the lever play then ill try that yamaha lube stuff. what kind of oil should i put in the tranny? suggestions on weight of oil and anything else would be great! is there a specific oil for wet clutches?

first off, praise the lord jesus you didn't start another oil thread, thank you deeply for that :p i use HP trans, it is used in honda cr's and trx 250r's and i believe it is 80w-85. most use 10x-30 motor oil too. as long as there are no friction modifiers and it isnt too think you will be good. with the wet clutch the friction modifiers cause slipage and are not good, hope this helps

what would be considered a friction modifier? i havent changed the oil since i got it(which i should have) but i think they just used regular motor oil. prolly like 10w-30. could this be a problem?

I know a few people on here recommend ATF type F & from my experience its no good! I used it on a fresh rebuild & had a lot of clutch slip even after adjusting the clutch a few times so I bought a new a whole new clutch kit thinking that was the problem & still using the type F it still slips while warming up & slips very little after warm up but what can you expect for $2 a quart from wal mart! I plan on going with yamalube+4 or something else...lesson learned AGAIN lol

i've had 0 problems with type F atf

when i had the yamalube in the case, i actually had to pry the plates off of each other

Probably because you are always working on yours brandoz lol jp!!! Not tryin to thread jack but how do you explain all the slip with type F when cold bit almost none when warmed up?

For the price of a clutch what like 50 bucks id go ahead and swap it out and put amsoil in it.I've used about everything and I love that stuff!I. Use 10w40 synthetic oil for motorcycles and atvs and haven't had any issues and really I'm quite suprised as many times as I've dumped the clutch and slipped it riding some of the places we do that I've not had to replace the clutch but its still like new the HP stuff is good too I've used it when they didn't have amsoil in stock.I don't care for atf its too thin unless you're just balls out racing then its good because it doesn't drag as much as oil on the gears.I do like it though when you're going to flush the case its got a lot of detergent in it so it cleans the inside up nice but I then change it back over to oil.

Not sure how to explain it, but I know i didn't really have any issue, even cold mine will grab hard enough, low enough to kill it.
