Got a 2002 yamaha blaster bought it last week for 700 dollars, took it in got a new plug, oil reservoir delete, chain lubes, carb cleaned and jets, the light switch covered cause it was shorted and nerf bars installed but ever since i got it the damn thing will not stay running without me gassing it.. it runs fine runs all day not one problem but when i let go of the gas and let the rpm's drop it stalls out.. Still starts in 1 kick and has EXCELLENT compression. Anybody know what can be done?

Removed it tonight, does it matter if i just clip the wire off the carb or do i need to completely pull it? 2 am job finished 20 minutes ago and will fire her up in the a.m lets hope it works boys!I:I
I also read that i need to tape 2 wires together now?

thanks guys, wheres the idle screw located i tore the whole quad down, and opened up the carb, not sure if this carbs right but this is as low as the thing inside goes.

I just bought new jets and cleaned the carb but the slide still will not go lower, the tors is removed and when i turn the screw to lower the slide it doesnt do a thing, cable looks to be clean as well i am stumped

If i pop the cable off the assembly on the handle bars and it pulls all the way into the carb the slide goes all the way down, but once i plug it back in the slides back to where it was in that picture

That looks to be open too much to idle properly, but I havn't seen mine in a while to be able to say for sure.

The idle screw is attached to that wierd shaped box on top of the carb. The TORS box. You can adjust it by turning the screw under your seat near the gas tank...

If turning the screw doesn't raise or lower the slide- it may be broken.

If you remove the small screws holding the cover on that TORS box, you can tell if the idle screw is functioning properly...

Ive had one break on me before, so its very possible.

So i got the slide down now, had to open up the dumb tors box thingy and adjust the nuts. I replaced the jets from a 230 to a 260 because i have a fmf fatty with silencer and cleaned the whole carb. It used to start and redline now it starts fine, didnt get to see if it would idle lunch cameI:I

Yep that stupid thing was shot

Raise the idle a little bit using the screw under the seat.

You still have to tune the bike to run right. This includes dialing in the Air/Fuel mixture on the carb, running the right size pilot & main jets and adjusting the idle screw...

Don't forget to clean or replace the spark plug periodically as you tune. A beat plug will make the motor run like crap- regardless of adjustments...

You just have to play with it until you find the adjustments that work best for your application.

The quad is running AMAZING, no smoke or anything yesterday there was, i upped the jet to a 260 today and cleaned the carb. Adjusted the air/fuel screw and got a great tune on it, the idle screw on top is ruined its broken. AND i just removed the tors

why doesnt my carb look like that lol? do all stock blasters carbs look like that? my choke is smaller and vertical. and its just different. its a mikuni carb but isnt that what blasters use anyway?
