shifting??????

i ALWAYS use the clutch to shiift up,i dunno i guess i learned like that and i jsut like the adrenaline of using the clutch, but i do not use it to downshift, i jsut let off gas, clutch, shift and rip it, and when downshifting,i let off gas and downshift then give it gas.

i use the clutch all the time but sometimes i think when i got to pull the clutch in i dont pull it very far enough so it dosnt even engage haha

well thanks for your guys opinoin i was a nebie until this sight and know well in my opinion i think i know quit a bit of stuff obout blastys now thanks!!

Ya know, you cannot argue with the simple mechanical facts about the transmission. I have never had mine apart, I replace the oil every month (about 5ish rides) and I usually only use the clutch when going slow, or when I need to feather it (don't recommend if you want to save your clutch haha) or if I even remember. I usually powershift by rapping through the gear to the very top, letting off the gas all the way, shifting successfully, then getting back on it, and I've never had any problems, no bent forks, shift star is good still, never ground a gear, never had chunks of anything or shavings in my tranny oil. And It's still running strong after 3 years of riding it. You can even use a real life example, many truck drivers will float their gears, as long as there is not a positive amount of torque(causing positive acceleration) on the transmission it is fine to shift without a clutch. However on traditional transmissions you can wear out your synchro's faster. I'd recommend riding as you normally do, because obviously none of us are discussing actual transmission problems as a result of shifting. So therefore the mechanical facts stated earlier apply and this thread can now be complete :)

i use the clutch when i'm reaaaaly gettin on it, but really, its not gonna hurt anything if u don't, but always use the clutch when hill climbing and revving it out, so u can get the most outta ur engine

Has anyone here ever damaged the gearbox on there blaster in anyway? Other than having a forign object get caught in the gears. I had a bearing on the counterbalance shaft scatter on me one time and it pulled part of the race from the bearing down into the teeth of the gearbox. But the damage was only superfacial it still worked just fine.

If you really think about it the gearbox on a blaster really is about the only thing that dont give us problems at sometime or another. It really is quite a stout little assebly.

I'm not just trying to be a smartarse either I'f you have damage lets see it

WEll... I have worn out more 6th gears than I can count, ripped teeth off gears, twisted both shafts before........ but then again, my bike spends most of its life in 6th at speed with high shock loads as the tires skip rather than roll. I use the clutch to refine power delivery. shifting I let off the gas and shift smoothly, there is no reason to bang gears in the desert.

if that beast that phragle is ridin isn't blowin apart trannys then I wouldn't think that any of us reg guys are going to rip one apart with half the power he is pushing. can't wait to see the finished product on that 50 hp motor you are building phragle. can't remember running across too many blown trannys on here at all.
