I'm new to the forum and to blasters also. I have an 01 with a leaking shifter shaft seal. I'm hoping that I can replace the seal without pulling the motor and splitting the case. I figure that someone has done this before and might have some tips for me. I could figure it out but maybe is an easier way out there. I really like the machine. I has good zip for a 200cc. I will have the seal next week and plan on changing the oil at the same time while doing the seal. Thanks for the quick reply's.

easy to do just use a small screw and screw it into the seal then use a screw driver to pry the screw and seal out. replace it with a new one and deeps socket or pvc pipe works well to. tap it in

Thanks for the quick replay. Do I need to put any grease or oil on the new seal before installation? I have lubriplate assembly lube on hand.

The shifter shaft seal is not even a tight fit in the case usually. Only press-in IF the shifter isn't sitting in there.

Neonnight has it right. A small piece of tubing of plastic pipe over the shaft will push the seal straight in the first time.

Clean the area well to avoid getting crap in the seal or engine. Cover shaft with masking tape to avoid damage to seal from burrs. Pack inside of seal with grease. Might want to apply 3bond or rvt to outside of seal in case of imperfect cases. I:I
