seeing the trend

I want to throw in about this oil injection failing...

I bought my bike in 92 or 93, and rode the hell out of it (100% stock) as hard as I could almost on a daily basis (I lived in northern michigan right at the beginning of one of the largest trail heads up there). I could ride for 100's of miles if I had the gas legally.

I kept yamalube in it, and 93 octane fuel (never any thing different). My bike ran great until 01' when buddy rolled it in the mud... I never did anything to that bike but change the plug on ocasion, and lube the chain, and add oil and gas... we lived miles down the dirt road. I still have the original tires on it that still have great tread. The oil injection NEVER caused any issues. So for 8-9 years. And I rode it year around (unless there was to much snow to get it out of the barn)...

I am actually surprised to see so many people removing the oil injection. I never heard of it failing until I joined this site. And out of my freinds 5 of us had blasters...

I dont know. Just wanted to add my .02...

I don't know if anyone has a story of it failing, although it sure does look like a weak system. I think the plastic gear scares people. Plus, if you know what you're doing, mixing your own ratio is better because you can tailor the ratio to what your needs are. Still, the injection system ain't that bad....

Also, keep in mind if you're going to swap in a bigger carb, I'm sure that most of them aren't going to have a spot for the injection. Another way to blow it up is if the injection port on the carb isn't blocked off well. If you're mixing and it sucks air in from that port, you're motor is doomed!

for me personally its peace of mind. after putting a bunch of money into a nice engine i like to know ive got real good race oil right in my gas not being dripped in keeping my crank and everything lubed as good as possible.

bought mine brand new in 06 and blew it 6 months later. piston slap shatered the piston and put a hole in my crank case. but i have to admit i rode the sh*t out of it everyday. and now im going on three years after the rebuild and mods. sometimes when your young you gotta break sh*t first in order to understand sh*t lol
