Sandblasted Cylinder Head?

I used my sandblaster to sandblast my blaster head because somebody before me tried to paint it with non heat paint. Great idea on their part! haha I was wondering if leaving the head unpainted would be ok? I am pretty sure its steel but I could be wrong. I have seen a couple other bare heads and I wondered if it would rust the instant it touched water. Any input?
 
the cylinder is aluminum and will not rust
although i have seen them get stained, especially this orange coal mine, sulphur mud we have someplaces around here

The bare look is okay just make sure you keep mud and dirt off! thats a must to keep the clean look. here and there spray some wd40 and use a brush and crush it a little then wash all the wd40 of befor rideing.

i dont have my motor or even my blaster back yet. my unlces been working on it for me lets say my mom gave him 800 bucks the other day to pay for it. but i mean a full rebuilt engine and new axle swingarm and prolly soon to be swingarm bushings and berrings i cant complain.

no thats not too bad for a FULL rebuild ur gonna love the reliability of a rebuilt motor, its the only way to go. I:I I:I so when are u expecting to get the beast back??

this week waiting on my 400 ex shock and the kit ken makes for it. then it will be all togther other then bushings for the front end and i will have it back. imma talk to my uncle to get me some arm bushings and hone he ges them put them on for me. i only paid 400 for my blaster 2.

no i dont. i wish i did. and i am planing on it one i get her back. cant wait to ride it. my uncle says its rlly crisp. and sounds amazing. has a beter throttle response then is cr 250. and i rode his cr its beast. cant wait. so pumped.

sooo take all this info we have just talked about, snap some pics and make a damn build thread for everyone to look at lol :) I:I
 
not to derail the thread or anything :p bu how would you polish the head and cylinder? I have a drill that I put a wire brush on and it is doing pretty well or polishing my nerf bars but the cylinder seems it would be to hard to get in the cracks and crevices.

you could use a wire brush to try. thats what i was going to do. but yea it gonna take time but it will look nice in the end.
