Running Temp.

My motor runs about 200* avg. Ive gone as high as 217. There is a thread on this somewhere... but I am modded pretty good...

Have you seen those nifty infared thermometers? Get one and use that on the cylinder head after the bike has been warmed-up. That should give you a good idea of the running temp on your Blaster. These work well; I even use them when troubleshooting 2-cylinder engines which appear to be firing on only one cylinder. Point the thermometer at both exhaust headers; the one attached to the dead cylinder will be a couple hundred degrees cooler. Lol, crazy maybe, but it works!

Yeah good idea, i actually have one of those for my nitro R/C car, i was going to use that, once the bike is back together lol. I just wanted to know what an average good temp would be for one so when i get mine back together i would have something to go by. Thanks

A thermometer is not really ideal, they wont tell you the engine temps under load at WOT where it counts most. Unless you can get a reading while running WOT, A plug test will tell you if you are running lean or not.

the accurate way is a Digitron EGT/CHT guage.

the egt gauge will monitor you EGTs (exhaust gas temps) and let you know if your jetting is correct or not, helps detect an air leak etc. The CHT (cylinder head temp) will monitor the engine head temps and tell you if your running to hot or not. together they can help you solve other issues as well. for instance if EGTs are low but CHT are high you have a detonation problem. if they both spike, you have a jetting issue or an air leak. The EGT guage is awesome for setting up the base jetting and help you monitor the slight changes you make to get the most out of your engine safely.

Most places that sell Kart and snowmobile preformance parts carry them. they are not cheap but woth every penny. what is great about them, they work on anything, so you can set up your quad, then remove it then set up your friends bikes to.
I have a DT-52k max it reads EGT, CHT, MPH and Tach. I use it for setting up my own bikes and customers race bikes. Cost me about $475, but for an amazing tool its worth it.
