First I'm fairly new with the Blaster.
2006 K&N Filter, Open airbox
FMF Pipe
Stock Carb

Bought it three weeks ago. Been running pretty good but we took it up to the mountains last week. We rejetted it (Phoenix 1200', mountians 7300'). When we pulled the main jet it was a 360. Initially went to a 340 but was rich, so we moved down to a 330.

Ran pretty good though a little hesitation. When I got back I put the 360 back it.

Here is my issue: I decided to change the spark plug (NGK BR8ES). Gapped it to .030. Put it back in. Started and will idle but cannot throttle up. Bogs and throws a lot of smoke. The spark I pulled was black. The new spark after a few minutes is black and wet.

First, I don't wont to over tighten the spark. I don't think that I have a leak. With it being black and wet -- seems like rich. I put the same Jet is that was in before when it was running good.

Should I start to move down in Jet size?

360 seems verry fat for the mods definatly check the filter and go down 2 sizes in the main jet and re check the plug after that

Thanks for the responses. I'm putting in an oil injector block-off kit this weekend so i'll probably tear into the carb again. Got a friend with the same year with a toomey pipe, performance reeds and a K&N and he's running a 300. But 360 seemed really fat to me. Possible that because it sat for a while before I bought it that the carb was a little gummy and now that we've had a tank of fresh fuel through it its running very rich.

Will post results after the weekend.

Again thanks for the replies.

Cleaned the carb really good. Got the oil pump bypass kit in and re-jetted to a 320. She's running like a stripped-a$$ ape. We'll put a few miles on it and do a spark chop. She rev's great and comes back to idle quick. Probably in the right neighborhood now.

Possible down to a 310, but I'll check after the spark chop.

Thanks for the help.
