rotary engine

had a buddy when i was like 18(1991) that had an RX-7...man that thing was strange...it was quick and it would literally rev to the moon...it was weird drivin it after getting out of my V8 camaro...

strong, efficient, and light. all good things lol

Not efficient at all. No torque unless turbo'd. The only good thing is they rev to the moon and don't vibrate at all. They go for LOTS of miles too, not just 50K. The key is to keep the apex seals lubed and clean. A lot of guys pre-mix som 2 cycle oil into the gas to accomplish this... otherwise, they burn a little engine oil by design for this purpose. No oil changes means crap oil going to the apex seals which leads to stuck seals and no compression.

Several companies made rotary motorcycles and put them in regular production. Problem was, they were inefficient as hell.

BTW, anybody want a good deal on 1988 RX7? I have one I'll sellI:I

We rebuilt a buddies 80 something RX7 a couple years back. He knew what he was doing and I was just along for the ride. It had like 80K miles on it and was smoking like crazy. That car would rev to 9000 rpms and you couldnt even feel it. Crazy sounding with no torque. It was odd to say the least.

i had a rx 7 with a 20b twin turbo setup it was fast but like stated no much bottom end
high maintance but fun. a buddy in the late 90's took a banshee with a single rotary off a ultra light and fabbed it up with snomo clutchs it was fast but ultra loud
