rich

down in # size
as in ...you have a 300 in there now, buy a 290, 280, 270 and 260 main jets
replace the 300 with the 290, plugchop, read the plug color, if too dark/still hesitating up top, try the 280 and again plug chop,
and so on down until you feel a nice strong pull up top and the smoke ring of the plug is a nice medium to dark brown color

Running rich can cost you power, plug fouling, clogged mufflers and carbon buildup.

Running slightly rich prolongs engine life, at the expense of carbon builup.

Running correct jetting safely produces good power.

Running slightly lean produces more power at the expense of engine life.

Running lean = $$$$$$$.

I prefer to run 1/2 to 1 size jet on the rich side. Yes you read right 1/2 a jet size, ask me how, if you do not know how.
