tryied to clean up the fmf for the lt250r yesterday.... didnt go so well... wire wheel, scotch pad on the drill, california gold and steel wool.. finish was just to gone....


sooo i went from this.. lots of rust.....

went to work with the wire wheel and the scotch pad on the drill..... 2 dusting coats followed by 3 light coats of high temp ( 2000 degree) header paint later.... and heat cycled the pipe right where it hands by stickin a heat gun in the inlet of the pipe and letting it run for 10 min, then cool than 15 min and cool.....
gotta get it on the machine and finish the baking process
 
i have used that on headers before been good so far but it fades pretty bad after a few times of getting hot
 
is chroming an option when it comes to recoating? i tried zinc plating, came out beautifully, looked like chrome with a bit of polish but it doesnt stand up to the heat and peels off at the header.
