My son has a 05 Blaster. On the last day of our trip in Utah, his engine pretty much decided to die. Haven't torn it apart yet, but I know there's something wrong with the clutch plates for sure, and right now as it sits in the garage it's leaking like Exxon Valdez all over my garage floor. Engine doesn't kick, and we tried popping the clutch with no luck. However, we have spark in the sparkplug. Anyways, ended up buying a 05 engine for $500 and plan to rebuild this one over time just to have an extra one. Been reading alot of comments on Reed valves and removing the oil pump. I plan on removing the pump so that i can avoid future problems with that. Who knows, that could have been the culprit. But someone else suggested replacing the Reed Valves on the engine I just got. I still don't know what the reed valves do, and why I should replace them. Can anyone shed some light on this? I'm not looking for more power. I just want it to run again. Is there something I should be looking for to see if they need to be replaced?

the reed valve is between the carb an motor the reeds might be bad take off the intake that the carb goes into an the reed valve is in there pull it out an check an see if the reeds are cracked or chipped an they should lay flat against the reed cage
