reed spacer placement

Vito's said yes the guy that had mine in had it backwards so im guessing yes it does but i forget what way it goes?

i know what i am talking about, i am a mechanic, i asked my other buddy, who is also a mechanic, he worked for team honda for 8 yrs, i trust him, it does not go before the reed cage.

you can look it up the proper way to install it if you do not believe me, i mean this guy has been working on bikes for like 35 yrs, i think he knows a thing or 2, we have had this discussion before on here to, either way it does not matter which way it is installed, unless you have the vf3's, then it has to go in front, never tried it because it cost me my reeds, so it is sitting on my counter

i believe what your saying 2smoker85, but if you have the vforce3 reeds what is the order it goes. is it reed cage, spacer, intake manifold, then carb . i have a pro design intake if that makes any diff.

So are you saying this wrong?

Mine is the top pic and if I'm wrong I would like to know.

ok the problem with the spacer and vf3's is the middle of the spacer is too big which allows the middle of the cage to pop out, thats how my reeds got broken, while i was tuning it, they popped out and kinda just floated there and flapped around and well broke. try putting it first,i never tried to put it first, didn't care too much, if it works then keep it, if it doesn't then sell it.

So now are you saying that your not sure on a stock cage? The second pic I posted the guy seems to have some money in it and I think he is probably right. The third pic is the v-force which I don't have and it don't fit behind it I don't know. I just want to make sure mine is right. I thought they call them reed spacers because they space the reed away from the cyl.

im not sure if i will have enough room between the clutch lever (on the engine case) and my carb bowl without the spacer. yours doesnt seem to interfere with your carb bowl?

stock one you can do either, it worked fine on my stock one, between the boot and the cage, vf3's i never did it in front of the cage is what i am saying, i don't use one because they don't do anything but give you clearance

Is the v-3's worth the money? I don't race just mostly trail ride? To tell you the truth I still have stock 1988 reeds in mine. I looking to replace them here real soon, just can't decide what to get. The v-3's look good thou.

see i never had that problem, people say it makes a diff but it doesn't, and yeah the vf3's do make a big diff, you will have better and crisper throttle response.
