I bought new boyesen power reeds a couple months ago. Fresh rebuilt Prob have 30 40 hours on rebuild. .60 over weisco piston 310 main jet stock pilot air lid off toomey b1 full exhaust with uni filter. All of a sudden bike started put put put not wanting to idle. My question is can the gap in the reeds cause this? Its like on both sides and wasnt when I started I made sure they were completely seated

Neither neither the reeds seated to the cage, nor the cage seated to the cylinder have ANY gap. My boysen power valve reeds set completely flush when I installed did u use blue Loctite like recommended the screws are know to back out with could cause some catastrophic damage.

Mine looks like this

Mine our the dualstage ones but their is no gap as u can see.

Also if ur cage has any gap away from the cylinder ( unsure of witch place u are referring to in ur post) that would be causing u a air leak and most def. giving you problems

Either way no gaps on the reeds!

I def didn't have a air leak. I used dual stage boyesen reeds I read that they banana. I used Loctite. I do on almost all my bolts screws.they say flush when I first installed them.

yes you should have the metal reed stops, that may be why you have the gap, they over extended, flip them over to they seal, and get the reed stops installed

Over tightening the screws without the stoppers in place can deform the petals and cause the far ends to kick up.

Flip them over and fit the stoppers.

Anybody got a stock reed cage with stoppers. I bought some Boyensen Pro reeds

I messaged him and the guy I bought my front brake conversion off of on here
