Well, to start out, i went riding today and was riding up and down the field wide open. i came to the end of the field and i was smoking from the exhaust so i went home. when i turned it off i saw the exhaust was smoking horribly so i looked in it and it was red hot inside. don't know what it was, could the gas be mixed wrong? or is the carb needing adjustment.. if so are these sighns of running rich or too lean?

ya know, i'm not shure what jet i'm running. i got it used and it had all these mods on it all ready. i rebuilt it last year so it should have been jetted. i'm not shure how the jetting could have changed if i never modded it?

it's been running fine and never done this till now. could the shop have jetted it wrong when they rebuilt it? how do i even it out if its too lean? i need help with this cause my dad isn't shure about 2 strokes. anyone have step by step directions i can use?

1. where was the smoke coming from? (out the end of the pipe or off the engine or the outside of the pipe)
2. where did u look inside? through the silencer?
3. when u start ur bike does it smoke like a 2stroke should? does it sound normal or does it sound like its loaded when ur riding how about when ur stopped?
4. wat does it smell like?

these will help us solve ur problem

if it was glowing red you've got a problem dude.. it's getting REAL hot.. if it's always been fine before then you've probably developed an air leak.. i know our local to me.. just a few miles away.. i'd be willing to help ya out.. sound like the first thing that needs done is a leakdown test... and go from there.. i'll PM you my # and we'll get together and get that thing fixed.. DON'T RIDE IT til it's fixed. that a good way to melt that baby down..

Thats good info there!!! Im having the same prob.. I just put on the "fatty with procircuit too. Its used so im sure the packing is shot. Im hella busy with school so let me know if you get your packing done and it helps..

yo it might be ur crank seal(mild) cuz oil burns alot hotter than gasoline. and if ur ripping on it and it feels slightly weaker and its smoking up a storm. it cant really be anything else. crank seals sound like the culprit. get 370 to help u. he knows his stuff.

well a leakdown test will show if there is an airleak then if there is.. saopy water and another leak down test will show where.. then it;s just a matter of getting to that part and replacing it.. i doubt it's a clutch side seal like Xmous is thinking.. a stator side seal MAYBE.. but thats a worst case scenario.. burning trasn oil isn't gonna get it that hot.. if you've got a 2 stroke with a RED HOT pipe.. it's SUPER lean.. last one i saw liek that was a quadzilla with the cases wasted in the main bearing boss area.. if you know zillas you know what i'm refering too.. anyway MASSIVE air leak.. in fact the top end lasted about an hour before it melted through the piston crown... if youir gettign it hot enought to make the pipe glow red then think how high your cylidner temps are.. and we are dealgin with an aircooled engine here.. he;s lucky he hasn't seized it or melted it down.. if he calls me i'll surely help him out however i can.. gotta help the local guys

wat if its a combination of the two? air leak and a bad seal cuz once the engine gets to a certain temp the oil is burned easy as hell. and if he hasnt seized it yet it could be due to the transoil lubin it. im just stating that it shouldnt be ruled out yet.

i doubt thats it but either way if you dont know what it is and dudes offoring to help you out i'd take him up on that instead of riding it again and messing things up worse. another 15 min ride could be the differance between a free fix and a expensive fix
