Hello,
I know my quad isn't a Blaster, but it started out from a Blaster bassis, and besides there's tons of knowledge here. So here I go again.

I am building this ATV which you may have seen here

I have never been able to set up a satisfactory rear suspension. I finally got a KFX400 shock off E bay, which looks so heavy duty it almost seems like overkill. Anyhow, to get on with my problem here are some pics

I was thinking of setting up a YFZ style linkage, because I'm pretty sure this quad is too light to run it without a linkage, besides that it was built for a linked suspension.
However, I am wondering if there is a way that I can mount it without a linkage.
I just need Ideas as to what would be the best way to mount it.
I will obviously need to move the crossbrace on the swinger,I also think the swinger is too short (16in) :o
I would greatly appreciate any pointers anyone could give me.
Thanks a million!

I was wondering about that rezzie, that's good that it works the other way around, I don't have much clearance engine side.

So you think I should be OK without a linkage?

Also I'm gonna be mowing off those plates that are in the picture, Those were from a former "junkyard spring-over-car-shock) setup. So the top will go as close to the top crossbar behind engine as possible (I'll probably take that thin crossrod out and put something stronger in)

Ok Lost a lenthy post here due to computer problems
Here are some pics of what I have mocked up

The way I set it up tonight (wire and Vise-Grips) I can get right around 8inches of travel. I can't get away with much more than that anyway as the frame is only 10inches off the ground, so I'm ok on that point. My main worry is that the ride will be too choppy, this shock is pretty big and the quad is kinda small. I was originally thinking of a linkage setup, but I want to avoid that if at all possible.
What do you guys think? Or should I mount it this way, and try it, and throw on 2-3 inches more on the swinger length? It's only 16inches long right now, that's on the short side right?
I need you guys help here pretty badly, because trail and error is a slow and hard road
