Rear axle interchangability

I need a rear axle for an 03-06. Are they different from 88-02??

yes, the pre 03 and the 03+ axles are most certainly different on the brake hub side.
do not interchange them without expecting brake mounting problems,
pre 03 has a machined bushing on the axle seals directly into the bearing seal,
03+ uses a fixed rotor that seals into the bearing seal

They are basically the same, except for how the brake mounts to them. One uses a floating brake rotor, the other uses a fixed brake rotor. You can get around the fixed problem by using shoulderd bolts like dualstroke showed in the pictures on the 2nd page of the link I posted.

gah, hit enter too soon, sorry about the double post.

Something has to float, and something has to be fixed. Both of the brake parts cant float, nor can both of them be fixed in position and still work correctly.

I read that post about the shee and blaster axle sway. They say that any banshee axle will work on a 03-06 blaster. I have a stock 87 axle on my shee that's getting replaced. I think I have my solution.

I looked at the axles on both machines and they do look the same outside of the carrier. When my +4 shows up then I will make the swap.
