Hi so i got my axle bearings today and i was wondering do i just put them straight on or do i grease them?

When I replaced the bearings in my carrier, there was a little spacer that goes in the left side of the carrier FIRST, and then you slip the bearings in, followed by the seals. Also don't forget about the long, tubaler thing that goes in the center of the carrier. In order to get them in you will need to freeze your bearings, and right before you put them in, run a torch around the carrier for a while. Wear gloves so you don't get burnt. Apply LOTS of grease and they should be able to slide in. I had to use a little rubber mallet to get mine to go all the way in, and they slipped right down nice and snug. Don't be afraid to use A LOT of grease, you want NO water to get in there. You will know when the bearings are all the way in when the seals sit flush with the carrier.

I never do, I just fit them as they are.

Some people take the seals out and pack grease in them, then replace the seals.

Others take the inner seals off and pack them and fit grease zerks to the carrier.

I depends on what punishment you are going to give them, if you intend taking them swimming you may consider packing with waterproof grease.

It is all in the application you intend to use them for.

ah :) i won't be near water unless its raining as its only for use on a private track then a local track. won't be going trails or that as there isn't any here :(

You will be ok just putting them straight in without adding any more grease.

awesome! is there a spacer in the carrier? i know theres a tube. but i took the old bearings out yesterday it was pretty rusty. was kind of seized inside so my grandad used oxygen and oxyacetylene to heat it to get a peice of metal out but i don't know if it was maybe the spacer?
