Rear axle bearing replacement without rear brakes?

Hey all, I currently don't have rear brakes installed on my blaster but want to remove the back axle. Isn't the best technique applying the brakes while loosening everything or is there an alternate method that would work for me?

applying the rear brake helps lots, but if you have the quad in gear and wedged somewhere so that the rear tires can't move, you should be able to do it. The thing is, with just the chain and the tires holding the rear axle from spinning, the rear axle will move a bit, especially if you hammer on the wrench to apply shock loads. If you have two wrenches to fit the two nuts, you'll be much better off....

Nope, they're both threaded the same way!!

It may help to initially try to tighten the inner one, which will loosen up the outer one and allow you to back them both off.

Two big monkey or crescent wrenches will do the trick. If you had a rear brake, you could get the job done with only one wrench, and a friend standing on the rear brake!
