Sup guys, sorry I've been outta whack for a while, but my cousin recently crashed my blaster no damage just bent the rear axle so I've been working out on that...

I had a question. How complicated would it be to swap in a raptor 660 motor into the blasty? 1. you get all that power 2. a nice custom reverse would be a surprise to many.

What do you guys think?

I don't care what anybody thinks... DO IT! Unless there is a physical reason why the engine won't work or fit properly in a Blaster frame, it would be a neat swap to see and you'd have something unique. Don't let everyone's dislike for 4-strokes put you off the idea.

That said, I have a few thoughts for you which you may/may not have considered. First off, you'll need an extened swingarm to cope with all that torque, or else you'll be staring at the sky everytime you punch the throttle. Also, a Rappy engine is very tall, and I don't know if it would fit up under the Blaster's stock fuel tank. You'd have to measure and go from there, or possibly re-locate the fuel tank like lots of the streetbike/Banshee swap guys do.

Plus, can you fit a radiator in-between the front of the Rappy engine and the Blaster's frame? You'll have to get creative and find out. Furthermore, that is a heavy engine, so some suspension (and brake, if you're swapping it into a pre-03 frame) upgrades would need to be in order. You have to be able to control and stop the beast somehow! :o

And, lastly, is the end result worth the amount of work required to do this swap successfully? I don't know; its your project! :D But just remember: I was able to beat a stock 660 Raptor with my Blaster's ported, but non-stroked, engine. It wouldn't take much more work than what I have done to a Blaster engine to make it powerful enough to give a piped/jetted/modded 4-poker a run for its money. After all's said and done, you might want to build a 4mil, ported 240 Blaster engine and keep it 2-stroke, yet just as fast.

Have fun, whatever you do! I'd like to see the results if you go through with it... I:I

Wow you definitely just made me reconsider my self with you saying you beat a 660 with a ported Blasty!!?!?! Damnn Guess Ken's going to be getting my engine sometime soon. And I figured I'd mess around with it for the hell of it but if you add it up the work seems to be too much.

Remember, its still a matter of luck and rider skill. When I raced and beat one, the Raptor was bone-stock with a heavy rider. I'm lighter at only 170lbs and I hooked up better on the launch. Still, its very possible to give a Raptor a run for its money and beat it.

If you decide to build yourself a big Blaster engine, get Ken to install a 4mil stroker crank if you can afford it. Man, I wish I had one... Maybe next year. The 4mil will give you a little more torque and a couple extra hp. Always nice.

A 4mil crank is about $ 175. Then you'll need to call Ken for pricing on case trenching and crank truing. He'll explain it all in detail, including the porting and head mods you'll need to get the most out of the stroker engine.

You might want to run a Vito's 3mil crank instead of the Hotrods 4mil if funds are tight. It performs just as well (in the real world) and is cheaper to install. Lots of guys here run them and haven't had any issues.

I mean so far funds arent that bad. I have enough to cover all of that I just dont know how much the trenching truing might

But I also have to factor in everything else, because I'm going extended everything new suspension set up all around (Not necessarily new new but a different set up other than stock) and all this motor work. Plus new plastics plus powdercoating etc... Gonna be a hefty build but the good news is I start the initial tear down hopefully not this weekend but the following one. so about a week and a half. :D

Well that sounds like a nice list there. You will probably have a easy 3000 in it in mods. Good luck

Im mean for a long rod motor build. With someone doing all the engine assembly for you. That would include
crank, rod, spacer, balancing the rod to crank, porting, head work, gaskets bearings, clutch, clutch basket, timing mods, reeds, carb, pipe, filter, possibly flywheel lightening. prob 1600 not postive tho

Powder coat
350
plastics if new prob 500
extended swinger 300
shocks for some used works and 400ex rear 250
Bolts 75 for a kit. Trust me if you want new bolts this is the way to go cheaper than buying seperate.
chain sprockets 65
you will prob want things like handlebars, seat cover, grab bar, bumper, shiney stuff lets say for that 150
and 100 in sh*t you wont expect and dont cancel this out becuase there will be stuff you wont expect lol
$3390 thats give or take a lil if you find good deals but still up there. You could use paint and used plastics etc to save $$

Thats not even including tires wheels stuff like that.

I've got at least $ 3K in mine, easy. Suspension and A-arms was $ 1,200.00 down the drain right there. Then I spend $ 325.00 for the pipe, $ 500.00 in porting/head work/shipping costs, $ 150.00 for a new carb, $ 300.00 in new tires...then you've got a clutch kit, reeds, intake boot, chain silder kit, CFM airbox, UNI Filter... OMG the list goes on and on and you always forget something. And those numbers don't include any kind of plastic work, PC'ing, nerfs, aluminum wheels, seat cover, etc.

Let's just say I had a good reason that I just spray-painted stuff during my build. Sure, PC'ing is nice, but I had no extra $ left over to have it done this year. I still want different plastics, a seat cover, PC work done, nerfs/heelguards, aluminum wheels, an extended swinger, aftermarket 'bars, a steering stabilizer... you see where this is going. When you start seeing how much it all costs, you have to prioritize and some stuff's gotta wait another couple years.
