Well I guess all good things must come to an end. 3 weeks ago I dropped my raptor 660 off at my local dealer to get inspected as it was making a clicking through the RPMS. I thought it was either rod knock or valves. Come to find out my motor is done. I got a call today from my dad saying that they had said the crank was totally toasted and there was water in the bottom end. They also found out that my lower end is trashed and all the gears are warped. X( They said itd be a ball park estimate of $2000 + to rebuild it. I said f*ck that. Its getting parted out and sold. So now its time for a yfz or raptor 700. Gunna make this baby sexy too I:I

water in the bottom end??? that sucks. reason you check your quad before every ride. the the fluids and stuff.

I would be getting a second oppinion. dealerships are lying cheating so and so's. find a motor to put in it. gotta be cheaper than 2 grand. well if you can just get another quad like that then screw it. want to give away the rappy

the raptor motor is not that hard to work on I did 3 motors so far you can find links that walk you through the the rebuild RaptorTranny.com - - - Home I would say your water pump want and wiped out your main bearings to the crank did it shift ok ??

Correct. The water pump pumped water into the motor. I talked to my dad some more. We can do it ourselves no problem. Overheated and caused the bearings to give it. The bottom end is pretty much shot. It needs a new crank and bearings and what not. Im picking it up tomorrow, so maybe well rebuild, or maybe this will be the excuse to get me away from it and move on. I have to add up all the money and what no and see how much i would sell parts for. If its enough, well then i think its time to move on.

if you do rebuild go with a barker +4mm stroker crank you can use any piston but if you go with the hot rod +4mm stroker crank you have two use there piston but you will love the power of it than and that makes it a 719 or add a stage3 hotcam and than it would be a true 720

a +4 doesn't make it a 720.. a 686 bore + 4mil stroke = 720... nice try tho lol.

and IMO I'd just get the hotrods +4 from what I've been hearing the barker will put more side load pressure on the cyl/piston so things will wear even quicker... I guess it depends on how much sooner the wear and the price difference between the top end kids (piston/rings and such for offset wristpin vs stock placement wristpin)

how exactly did the motor get all jacked?

the weakest link supposedly is the stock rod on 660s and the early ones had tranny issues too I believe 2nd would go out... not sure how yours managed to get so screwed tho
