Not too familiar with D slide carbs, but shouldn't there be a gap in the slide when the throttle is off, like a round slide? Reason I'm asking is because I'm having trouble getting it to idle right. I have the carb cable to it's max, and the idle screw all the way in and it just barely is ideling where it should. I have a 48 pilot and the screw about 2 turns out, but I think it's still a bit rich? When you stab the throttle in neutral fast, it revs, but stalls when the r's come down. But if you do it slowly, it's fine Also, anyone that has a PWK, does the metal tube at the end of the throttle cable (going into the carb) kinda loose, like it's easy to pull it out. Doesn't seem right to me. Mods are in my sig.

is the cable adjusted on top of the carb so it can idle ,how bout up at the throttle assembly on the bars ...so dont jsut go by the idle screw on side of carb

Cable tension is not how you set idle is it?A carb with a idle screw should be able to adjust idle without the cable under tension at all.

I have been wondering the same thing.Where do you start adjusting?Top of carb or handlebars or what?Mine doesnt like to idle either.

The adjusters on the cable are for setting freeplay. you should always have some, 1/8" to 1/4"
I read a tech article that stated the PKW usually needs the idle screw in all the way to idle.
Grind off some of the spring on the idle screw so it will go in further or get a longer screw and grind the end smooth and round. That is what I am going to do If I have this problem with mine.

Ok, I'll try taking some of that spring off. It's real close now, but the idle adjust is maxed. Wasn't sure if it would hurt anything by going to far in with the idle screw.

if your out of adjustment and its til l not getting the rpms up enough to idle yo u can adjust the top of the cap threaded area so theres no or atleast less play and it begins to pickup on the slide ,dont care what an article says ,this is done all the time and with the pj series its even more of an issue becuase the idle is part of the choke all in all it should idle with the idle screw alone though, are yo u sure the cable is the right one ? do what you want with your carb but i would not be grinding the screw spring down when its not needed

Umm... Why not? The only thing the spring does is keep the idle screw from backing off. Sometimes engines need more air than a stock idle circuit can give it. You act like I told him to drill a hole in the slide or something. LOL
