the 86 we were racing was not a powervalve motor, but the honda pulled way harder. now a PV motor may pull harder at first, but im not sure how it would stand against the honda..seeing as it pulled a wheelie out of the hole till about 3rd gear and still passing me by..... the 86 did seem a bit snappier on the throttle, and to me was more fun to ride. esp cuz if you fouind the sweet spot on the clutch could pull a decent wheelie. LT's are nice quads, i like em alot. but i guarantee my shee (if i could get it to hook up) would waste both of them no problem. the dunes is where a banshee shines IMO. i may be getting my hands on an lt here soon. i plan on using it for, well everything. theres an mx track near me thats fun, anybody who rides banshees will know, thats not a good place for one. although i have nice suspension and stuff, its a mother handling wise. they turn like school busses. so i figure i can get an LT for a hell of a lot cheaper than a honda, and if you watch older mx or flattrack vids, what do you see amngst the sea of TRX250R? LT250r's....the one im getting is a PV motor, has a psi pipe, and will be ported to match as such, with a custom cut head, and advanced timing and dual stage reeds. should be just the perfect ride for anything i want to do, all i need to do is upgrade teh suspension...
which i noticed, that 86 stock suspension, didnt seem to shabby. sliding in turns wasnt easy tho. kinda turned like a car with a locker, sort of wanted to hop instead of slide around like it should....maybe not enough power, or the wheel spacers had something to do with it. that particular bike had a front wheel flip, and rear spacers. so, ill see what comes of this possible deal on a LT. also it will be my girls bike until i get my hands on some shee parts to build her the right way....
