PVC air box?

Was at the lumber store earlier and stumble through to the large diameter PVC pipe isle, lets say you took the pipe, capped the ends and off set the a hole on one end to run to the carb? It would sit crooked like the CFM in the tube. Basically an airbox from a big pipe, looks like between the frame rails is 8", thats pretty damn big.

Or cut a section off the top where the original air box was for an outer wear?

Just thinking about this since Im gonna be building an air box soon. What do you think? Just and idea, havent really looked into it yet.

I'm not following what you are doing :-/

I thought about making my own airbox and probably still will if I get around to it. I was going to put the "box" right to the left of the rear shock...basically in between the rear shock and the subframe support that has the drilled holes in it.

i made a velocity stack from pvc pipe. it made my blaster run like sh*t no matter what i did

i'm followin ya, and that may work, i'd look at gettin the thinner pipe, not schedule 40
i saw a small bucket one time and had an idea about it, but then got a cfm

My paint skills suck but you get the idea, main question it that will the tube shape hurt the flow of the air?

if your going to all that work hy not make the intake come from the front of the bike like a ram air kit? could go right under the tank

NICE, but I end up in the water some times, this is basically like 1/2 my idea, but a tube around the filter.

I'm going to do more of a shield then a box for it. It increase air flow because you don't have that almost 90 bend. If you really take a look at a stock boot, you would understand.

Yea I know that much.

If you make a "shield" make sure it's just a shield over the front part and not completely enclosing the filter with an open back end. Think of a riding in the back of a Uhaul truck with the rear door open.......it has a vacuum effect and draws air flow away from the filter causing the filter to get less air. One nice thing about the stock air box with the lid removed is it always has a positive pressure as the air flow while riding is being forced over the shock and between the seat and air box causing a positive pressure in the box and giving air flow to the filter.
