I just got this blaster the guy before me cut the oil injection what ratio should i mix it? I have been told everything from 20:1 to 60:1

If you can, i would ask him what ratio he was running, and run that until you do a top end rebuild. Then you can can change to what ever you want. And 20:1 is stock.

why would it matter what ratio the previous owner was running? it's not like the engine remmerbs what oil ratio you gave it..

if its broken in to a certain ratio and you change the ratio, the engine wont run the same and likely not for the better

as i've been reading around this site since a joined a few days back i've noticed alot of people on here are mistaken about break in procedures.. all break in is creating a wear pattern between the cylinder wall and the rings... they wear into a FIT.. and it doesn't take long at all. 3 or 4 heat cycles.. the ratio of the break in fuel means nothing as far as what ratio you normally run..

The engine isnt going to remember how much oil was being mixed before...It does not have a brain. The only thing the engine knows is if it is getting oil. It knows that because it is still running. When it stops running you and the engine know that something is wrong.

No. Run the correct ratio and have it jetted properly, regardless of what the previous owner ran. If the previous owner had it all wrong, no point in continuing that because of some nonexistent "memory".

just about anyone that builds motors wil tell you oil ratio for brake in is normally run heavyer i.e. 20:1 or 24:1 just for the added lubrication for the new parts..

iv always ran 32:1 with a good oil, i always ran pro honda hp2 100% synthetic racing oil, its designed for the honda cr's to keep from fouling plugs and keeping the power valve/ power port from gumming up, its a clean burn, iv used it and loved it, clears out fast after cold starts.. ran almost 30 hours on a plug

BUT just to help point you in the right direction.....

^^^I've even had a guy at a suzuki dealer tell me that at one of his training classes they told them to use honda oil to break in a new top end.

I've only ran the honda oil a few times myself not enough to be a good judge of its quality. Personally I have ran the Amsoil dominator with ratios as high as 50:1 with no problems at all currently I run Klotz Supertechniplate at 40:1 and the motor really seems to like it.
